| This gallery shows a selection of the many photographs I took on Sunday 14 August at the 2ft gauge West Lancashire Light Railway's 2005 Summer Gala.
Three of the railway's active fleet of five steam locomotives were in action while another two were on loan to other 2ft. gauge railways. A sixth steam loco is presently undergoing a long term restoration. I've also included six pictures of two old automobiles for no other reason that I once owned & drove examples of both of these marques. The 1935 Wolseley Wasp was my first ever car and was 21 years old --- one year younger than I was --- when I bought it in 1956! Mine was identical to the example shown, except for being all black in colour, and I ran it for 3 years. The Ford Consul was one of many Consuls, Zephyrs and Zodiacs of Mks 1, 2 & 3 which I owned and drove in the 1960s & 70s --- all second or third hand, I might add! The 1960s bus and trio of veteran steam rollers are regular visitors to the West Lancashire Light Railway's special events, so I included them as well. |
