When Billy Met Millie

This is a very small album of just 11 photographs that illustrate the return to service of my 16mm scale live steam locomotive ‘Millie’ after a partial repaint and the application of some new transfers. Millie had to run without her cab front on this occasion because one of its brass spectacle rings kept falling out after applying the transfer. All the pictures were taken were taken on my friend Roger Fletcher's Henbury Railway in his Cheshire garden.

Because Millie hadn't run for several months before her repaint she was escorted throughout her first half hour of trials by one of Roger's own steam locomotives, a Roundhouse Billy. By using Billy's radio control Roger forced Millie to do most of the work, which she did very well. Only one of Millie's later solo runs with her own goods train were captured before I changed over to digital video format so the rest cannot be included here.

It was a very dull day and we were just thinking about packing up when the rain came down and hastened our decision!

My thanks go to Roger for hosting this Sunday morning steam up.
