This is a very small photo album that will enable me to quote the URL of any image in my messages to those e-groups and newsgroups that don't allow the attachment of images. This particular file contains photos with both railway and family interest, the last category jokingly implying that I am still capable of doing some physical work!
The reason for our closed season visit to the West Lancashire Light Railway was to collect, with permission, a couple of containers of spent locomotive ash and char from the loco shed dump. This is destined for reuse in a garden railway scenario as between-tracks infill on my 16mm scale Sankey River Line.
The WLLR was closed to the public but was holding one of its private 'drive-an-engine' sessions for two paying guests, Alan and Dale. They were under the instruction and supervision of WLLR driver and 16mm Association member/modeller Derek Preece and his fireman/guard Ian Clark.
The 0-4-0T Steam locomotive in use on the day was No 35 Utrillas. It was built in 1907 for the Minas de Utrillas, Zaragoza, Spain by the German loco builders Orenstein & Koppel, works number 2378 .
All the pictures were taken on Saturday, 12 Jan 2008, the majority of them by my wife Margaret using her Fuji Finepix F20 digital camera.
